Nissan Armada
STATUS: Updates coming for 2020 - These days there's no shortage of demand for big, boxy, body-on-frame utility vehicles. Extra-roomy mega-transports such as the Armada carries the entire family in three rows of seats. The big wagon has a sturdy ladder-type frame that's said to be less bendable by 20 percent than the previous chassis. It's also slightly shorter, but that doesn't affect its ability to carry up to eight passengers in an environment that Nissan says has "library-like interior noise levels." From a design perspective, the Armada has never looked better, with tautly drawn lines, plenty of front- and side-glass area and only the bare minimum of front and rear overhangs. The expected physical changes for 2020 will be fairly modest and will serve to give the Armada a more premium presence. The not-to-be-tampered-with V-8 powertrain continues to produce a respectable 390 horsepower and 394 pound-feet of torque that's directed to the rear or all four wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission. It also helps the Armada tow up to 8,500 pounds. The top-level Platinum Reserve trim provides assurance that all your comfort and safety needs will be fully met.
