STATUS: New for 2019, unchanged for 2020 - Audi's electric wagon is designed to move you comfortably, quietly and cleanly, regardless of weather or road conditions. The mid-size all-wheel-driver looks good, thanks to Audi's signature trapezoidal grille that was perhaps added more for conformity than practicality. The e-tron's two independently functioning (asynchronous) motors - one for each axle - collectively produce 356 horsepower and 414 pound-feet of torque. In Sport mode, output rises to 402 horses and 490 pound-feet. The motors run off a 95-kilowatt-hour battery pack located beneath the cabin floor. At full charge they provide about 204 miles of maximum city/highway range. Using a fast-charge DC outlet, it takes about 20 minutes to achieve 80 percent battery capacity. Alternatively, an available 240-volt home charging unit can top them up in about nine hours. The e-tron's Drive Select control reduces the air suspension's ride height by about an inch for improved aerodynamics, or increases it by up to two inches if heading off road. In addition, a heat pump captures up to three kilowatts of waste energy from the various electrical components and uses it to heat or cool the cabin and extend the e-tron's range by up to 10 percent.
