Audi A6
STATUS: Lineup expansion for 2020 - Audi doesn't usually do flashy makeovers with its models and nowhere is that more apparent than the A6 that was updated for 2019. Outwardly, the changes carry over much of the previous design "language" to a point where you would be hard-pressed to spot the differences. It's perhaps a different story under the hood, starting with a turbocharged V-6 that makes 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. That's about the same horsepower as before, but a 44 pound-feet increase comes from a 48-volt electric motor. A seven-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission sends the power to all four wheels. A base turbocharged four-cylinder engine that arrived in mid-2019 puts out 248 horsepower, while a new S6 sedan joins the group with a 444-horsepower turbocharged V-6. Also new is the RS6 Avant wagon equipped with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 rated at 591 horsepower and 591 pound-feet of torque (also with electric assist). A number of active-safety technologies are available, along with Audi's virtual cockpit. It consists of a 12.3-inch screen (replacing the traditional gauges) that allows the driver to combine speedometer and tachometer displays, in varying sizes, with a navigation screen and infotainment selections.
